![]() The city of Pittsburgh is home to daring architecture and it located at the confluence of the rivers Allegheny and Monongahela. If you look at a map, you will notice that Pittsburgh is split into 3 by the rivers. The skyline is especially beautiful. Skyscrapers rise high towards the sky and bridges run across the rivers. The old yellow Roberto Clemente Bridge is the primary landmark of the city. It was built in 1928 and was initially called Sixth Street Bridge. Another interesting old bridge is the Rachel Carson bridge, constructed in 1926. The center of Pittsburgh is home to over 330.000, which is actually down from more than double in the 1950s. The agglomeration has about 2,5 million. Pittsburgh is well known for its steel industry, but electronics, healthcare, education and financial services have a stronger contribution to the local economy today. According to magazines like Forbes and The Economist, Pittsburgh is one of the cleanest cities in the U.S.A and also one of the best places to live and work. |
