Marseille (France) Travel Directory |
||||||||||
![]() It is placed on the Mediterranean coast of southeastern France. A warm city with 1,4 million living in the urban area and 1,8 million inhabitants in the metropolitan zone. Marseille is a port city. You should expect to see in general what you can see in similar Mediterranean cities... There are opportunities for yacht trips, ship trips on the Mediterranean Sean. You could for instance travel to Corsica Island, which belongs to France, but is geographically closer to Italy. About the city of Marseille, we can say that it has the feel of a typical Mediterranean city, rather than a romantic French city. Lots of restaurants where you can eat fish, yacht ports, colourful houses with narrow streets in between them. Interestingly the French people in Marseille are actually a minority. About 33 % of the population has Italian ancestry, 25 % of the population is Berber, Arab, while the rest immigrated from Asian countries (especially China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Turkey). |
