![]() Old city in ruins locate in the central-east of Mexico, relatively close to the Gulf of Mexico. El Tajín's construction was started around 1 AD, then more buildings were constructed until around 1200 AD. The city's name is said to mean "place of thunder" Totonac language. The arriving Spanish conquistadores already found the city abandoned, but even today it is in pretty good condition. El Tajín was run down and burned by the invading Chichimeca people, as legends say. If you want to visit El Tajín, then go for it, it is an interesting site with strong Toltec influence. Architecturally it stands out, a beautiful place indeed... |
