![]() The city of Detroit was one of the first major automobile industry centers and it still is today! Today it has over 900.000 cities in the central area and the urban agglomeration 3,9 million. Detroit is a famous automobile industry center and was also renowned for its gangsters in the period between the 2 World Wars. This metropolis is in the state of Michigan, washed by the shores of Lake Michigan. On the other side of the lake is Canada. Detroit has emerged at the beginning of the 20th century and has rapidly become a powerful industrial agglomeration. During the interwar years the city was renowned for its music: jazz, the Motown sound, later rock and then the more modern sounds like techno have followed up. Getting there by car is very easy, you can even get in and out through Canada, as there is an underwater tunnel, the famous Detroit-Windsor Tunnel that connects the 2 countries. There are other roads, bridges that can get you on the other side but driving through the old tunnel built in the 1930s can be quite an interesting experience. Train could also be an option, but the presence of a major international airport also facilitates the circulation of travelers. |
