 A dynamically evolving city, the capital of Guatemala is one of the biggest Central American cities. In fact, Ciudad de Guatemala is the second biggest capital in the region with a population of 2,1 million people (and growing rapidly). Agua, Fuego, Acatenango are the 3 volcanoes located in the vecinity of Guatemala City. From a high spot, such as a hill or mountain nearby, you can admire the beautiful skyline with the volcanic cone trio. Especially at sundown or at dawn, the landscape is very beautiful. On of the most beautiful scenes one can capture with a photo camera. Definitely this is the gateway to this wonderful country. You can fly in by airplane to the La Aurora International Airport. Most travelers would first visit the city and nearby attractions, then head for Lake Atitlán and Tikal.
