 The city of Chicago makes U.S. think of jazz, blues, the first skyscrapers and even gangsters... It is one of the World's big cities and one with a diverse and rich heritage where many cultures and architectural styles meet. Chicago is famous for luxury shopping and luxury in general. Old architecture is still present, so you won't feel bored between the modern glass structures, you will find plenty of buildings from the early 1900s and late 1800s. You will love to take photographs of the old, neo-gothic-like clock towers, old skyscraper tops. Chicago was the paradise of skyscrapers long before New York. The first skyscraper was built in this city in 1885 (demolished in 1931), which was 10 stores and 42 meters high. The city is well known for its beautiful skyline. Lake Michigan washes the shores of Chicago, the boasting metropolis, which brings the temperatures down a little bit. Humidity is moderately high, overnight temperatures in the summer are cool. Winter temperatures are often close to -20 degrees centigrade (0 Fahrenheit). Fog and rain are frequent, so it's a city where you would want to put your raincoat on! |
