Chiang Mai (Thailand) Travel Directory |
||||||||||
![]() Chiang Mai is often confused with the smaller Chiang Rai. The two are different cities, located at a distance of about 140 km from each other (in straight line). You have the possibility to reach Chiang Mai on land and also by air, as it has an airport. The city has a population of over 170.000 people and the 5th most populous in the country. Flower gardens, ancient temples and the old part of the city surrounded by a wall and a moat outside of it constitute the main attractions.
Chiang Mai's neighbourhoods is very rich too. This city is the primary
aerial gateway to northern Thailand's Chiang Rai, hill tribe regions,
jungles and the Mekong River area (where the famous "Golden Triangle" is
located). |
