 The Mayan ruins of Calakmul are just as impressive as many others that are more often frequented by tourists, but unfortunately this location doesn't get that much attention. Of course, it is a smaller site than Teotihuacán, which is nevertheless the most impressive Maya site. Chichén Itzá for instance gets far more tourists and it more often visited than Calakmul, which stays a more hidden in the jungles of the Yucatán... A smaller number of travelers, especially those who are more prepared to take risks and are adventure-travel lovers will get to Calakmul.
