 Often called "the Pearl of the Danube", it is the cultural and economic capital of Central Europe. This city is renowned to be Europe's capital with the most beautiful skyline. Budapest is located on River Danube and therefore it is a popular river cruise destination. You can travel to Vienna by boat or visit other Hungarian cities. Architecturally speaking this city is breathtaking, the Hungarian Parliament (seen on the image on the left) is one of the most prominent buildings and there are a number of palaces (such as the Royal Palace), castles, fortresses in the city and outside as well, many beautiful churches and Europe's largest synagogue, ambitious modern buildings and many interesting bridges across the Danube. Budapest is also called "the City of Bridges". You will see medieval, baroque, gothic, neo-gothic, art nouveau architecture primarily. But you should not miss the events, which include concerts, festivals, sports events, also a number of museum exhibitions. Shopping and nightlife is also intense in this beautiful city. |
