 When you look on the map, you will think Bahamas is a 1000-island country, but surprisingly it only has 29 bigger islands, 29 cays (small islands) and almost all of the rest are rocks. Over 330.000 people inhabit the Bahamas, 260.000 living in the capital of Nassau. Except the June-October rainier period, you can visit Bahamas during any of the remaining months. June, July and October aren't that tragically rainy either, it's rather August and September that are considered the "rainy season". This exotic country belongs both to the Atlantic and the Caribbean, yet its looks and feel are closest to the Caribbean islands. Throughout its history, Bahamas has been influenced by British, French, Hispanic and American cultures. It is interesting to admire the architecture, study local culture, taste the foods and look for the influence of each culture that has set its mark on this island nation.
