![]() The second most populous Peruvian city with over 900.000 inhabitants. It lies at an altitude of 2.380 m in the southeastern part of Peru. There are a number of colonial attractions in the city and it also has an airport. Arequipa also offers the visitor a splendid view. The El Misti Volcano is located nearby and can be clearly seen. Overall it is a beautiful city and among the top 10 places you should visit when in Peru! The center of Arequipa is on UNESCO's World Heritage list due to its architectural beautify and rich history. Among the main attractions are the Santa Catalina Monastery, the complex of the Jesuits, of course the whole historical center, a number of old colonial houses, etc. If you travel to southern Peru, then Arequipa can be a good "base" for your regional trips, visits. |
